62 - Gnaden Romps By Lakeland 61-50 (1-9-62)
GNADENHUTTEN - Superb shooting at the charity line spearheaded Gnadenhutten's Indians (9-3) to their 9th victory last night over Lakeland (4-6). The game was actually much more hotly contested than the final score might indicate as Gnaden led by slim margins of 12-10, 24-22 and 37-32 at the quarter halts. But, a big fourth quarter, sparked by fine foul shooting and a 9-point spree by Dick Shull, broke the game open as the Indians outscored the invaders 24 to 18. The Tribe made 23of 31 foul shots, all told, while Freeport canned only 8 of 10 chances. A full-court press by the Red Raiders proved their downfall as they were whistled for 19 personals compared to but 8 personals against the host. Lakeland outscored Gnaden 21 field goals to 19. Lakeland was a 63-46 early season loser to Gnaden. Dick Shull led Gnadenhutten with 15 points, while Mike Milarcik led Lakeland with 13. The Gnadenhutten Reserves (6-4) just got by the Lakeland Reserves 58-54.
