TUSCARAWAS - A big second quarter surge paced Tuscarawas (6-6) to a triumph over Newcomerstown (3-8) Saturday night.  Tusky edged in front 17-15 in the first quarter and then outscored the invading  Trojans 19 to 6 in the second period to break the game open.  Following the 36-21 halftime lead, Tusky then held on for the victory and led 52-39 after 3 periods.  Junior ace Fred Burmich led the Broncos' second quarter surge with 10 points, while Coach Al Miller also credited his tight zone defense with limiting Newcomerstown to but 6 points in the second quarter.  Three-year veteran Phil Meese led Tusky with 27 points, including a fine display of accuracy at the charity line  where he made 13 of 16 chances.  Burmich followed with 16 points.  Ernie Art and Butch Williams led Newcomerstown with 18 points each, while usually high-scoring Gry Gunn was limited to but 3 points.  In the Reserve and Junior High games, Tusky (6-4) whipped Newcomerstown 43-36 and Newcomerstown was the winner starting off the night.
