61 - Tusky Extracts Revenge Over Gnaden 56-52 (1-18-61)
TUSCARAWAS - Spoilers themselves only last Friday when they upset Baltic, Gnadenhutten's Indians (7-5) were dealt some of the same medicine here last night. Nipped 55-53 at Gnaden, Tuscarawas (6-6) tasted the fruits of revenge with a narrow victory. Controlling the boards, Tusky overcame 14-8 and 34-26 first-half deficits to slip into a narrow 39-36 advantage at the third halt. The outside shooting of Phil Meese led the broncos with 19 points, while Ben Metzger and Vic Vesco were towers of strength on the boards as they pulled down 20 and 17 rebounds, respectively. Metzger also had 16 points. Bill Blickensderfer led the Indians with 18 points and Carl Dichler added 12. Top-scoring Ray Rank, hampered by 2 quick personals in the early stages, was held to but one field goal by the Tusky defense. Earlier, the Tuscarawas Reserves (8-3) tackled the Gnadenhutten Reserves (5-5) 46-39.
