PORT WASHINGTON - The thrice beaten Keene Cardinals made it 2 for the season over Port Washington (8-8) here last night. Victor earlier this season 62-57, Keene led all the way in posting the triumph. Hampered by the loss of forward Tony Nigro, who is out with a broken nose, Port's rebounding work was hit even harder late in the game when it lost 6-2 Jim Hannahs on fouls. The loss left the Riders without a 6-footer on the floor and Keene took full advantage of the situation. Keene also put forth a stingy defense, holding oneof the county's top scorers, Jim Bender, to 9 points. Bill Phillips took scoring honors for the hosts with 18 and Gary Gay followed that with 10 points. Gary Haas led a balanced scoring attack for Keene with 20 points. Port Washington (5-7) trounced Keene earlier in the Reserve game 46-21.
