61 - Baltic Replaces Midvale At the Top With 52-42 Triumph (12-24-60)
Baltic (3-0) (7-3) recovered from a cold first half to completely turn the tables on Midvale (2-1) (6-2) after intermission. With Charles McPherson and Larry Oswald leading the way around the boards in the second half, the Eagles pulled from a 24-15 halftime deficit to take a 34-32 lead at the close of the third quarter. The Eagles maintained the pace in the final quarter to steadily build up the advantage. McPherson, who popped in 13 points, grabbed 18 rebounds. Oswald, who contributed 11 points, took down 10. They provided valuable offensive support to Larry Lautenschleger who led the Eagles with 18 points. Baltic hit on but 6 of 29 action shots in the first half, then finished with 24 of 63 for 37.4 percent. Midvale, far off the range after halftime, dropped in 17 of 65 for 20 percent. Tom Belknap paced Midvale with 18 points and Neal Beans contributed 13 to the attack. The Baltic Reserves (7-2) also beat back the Midvale Reserves (5-3) 43-34.
