Port Washington's Purple Riders (1-3) (5-6) turned a rout into a thriller last night before bowing to determined Gnadenhutten (3-1) (6-4).  Gnaden was far out in front 43-28 going into the last quarter, but Port rose up to outscore the invaders 25-10 in the last stanza to knot the count at the end of regulation time resulting in an overtime.  Gnaden led 49-36 with 3:22 left, but Port, led by the one-two punch of Bill Phillips and Jim Bender tallied 10 straight points and trailed only 49-46 with 1:33 left.  Phillips canned a foul shot with 9 seconds to send the game into overtime at 53-53.  Ray Rank and Dave Struchen combined efforts to tally 6 points in the extra period for Gnaden, while Port came up with only 2 foul shots in absorbing the defeat.  Rank led Gnaden with 15 points, while Struchen and Bill Blickensderfer each added 14.  Bender had 19 and Phillips and Hannahs each potted 11 for the Riders.  Gnaden gained the victory margin at the foul line where it canned 11 of 24 attempts as Port was charged with 29 personals.  The Riders hit only 5 of 15 charity tosses.  The Port Washington Reserve team (3-5) edged the Gnaden Reserves (5-3) 30-29.
