61 - Strasburg In Tight Loss To Conotton Valley 64-59 (2-1-61)

STRASBURG - The Strasburg Tigers (1-14) continued to give  it that "old college try" last night, but it just wasn't sufficient.  Conotton Valley picked up a big 5-point edge at the foul line to defeat the Bengals.  Tight throughout, the battle was decided at the charity stripe where Conotton Valley made 12 of 20 shots, while Strasburg hit 7 of 15.  Both teams earned 46 percent marks from the field by hitting on 26 of 57 shots.  "I would say we are showing continuous Improvement," Tiger mentor Warren Binder said following the loss.  "It certainly couldn't come at a better time.  We just might cause a little trouble in the tournaments."  "We're certainly improving, and for the type of season we are having you just can't ask for any more," he concluded.  Strasburg fell behind 18-13 at the end of the first period, but rallied in the second to knot the count 29-29 at halftime.  In the third quarter the lead changed hands several times before the Rockets emerged on top 45-43.  In the stretch run the foul shooting of Conotton's Larry Dunlap, who made 4 for 4, and Russ Garner, with 2 for 2, proved to be the decisive factor.  Jim Clymer poured in 22 points to lead Strasburg and Adrian Edie and Dan Sliffe followed with 10 each.  Dunlap led the Rockets with 25, while garner tallied 14 and Jerry Rippeth 11.  The Strasburg Reserves (8-6); however, picked up another win by pushing back the Conotton Valley Reserves 40-31.
