STRASBURG - Midvale (4-0)parlayed a big foul line advantage into its fourth straight victory of the season without defeat here last night when it sent Strasburg (1-1) to its first loss. The Blue Devils were out goaled 22-17 by the Tigers, but made up the difference from the free throw line where they cashed in 25 of 35 shots. Strasburg was tagged with a total of 23 personal fouls. Strasburg held the upper hand in the first 2 periods, but midway through the second quarter its victory bid was dealt a sharp blow when regulars Don Wallick and Vic Gessner were assessed their fourth personals. But even at that the Tigers held a 30-24 advantage at the half-way stop. The severity of the loss began to tell in the third quarter as the Devils moved into a 46-40 lead at the end of the period. In the final quarter Jim Clymer and Gessner, who had re-entered the game, sustained their fifth personals and Midvale went unhindered at the free throw line. With one minute remaining in the game Midvale held a 56-52 lead. It assured itself the victory when Neal Beans collected a basket and Warren Leggett added a charity toss for the final victory margin. Beans paced the victory with 18 points, while Leggett and Mike Page added 13 apiece. Clymer was high man for the Bengals with 17 points and Adrian Edie connected for 13. Strasburg meshed 25 of 60 goal attempts for 42 percent and Midvale hit on 17 of 45 for 38 percent. The Blue Devils were assessed 12 personals and the Tigers made 8 of 17 free throws. Commenting on the game Tiger Coach Warren Binder decflared, "Offensively we were a good club, but we were terribly sluggish defensively and it cost us the game. However, the kids continued to show spirit and hustle, certainly a good sign." The Strasburg Reserves (1-1) edged the Midvale Reserves (2-2) 33-31.
