61 - Baltic Rolls Over Roscoe 81-60 On Lautenschleger's 33 Points (12-7-60)
BALTIC - Baltic High's Eagles (3-3) launched a fierce shooting assault last night and smothered invading Roscoe. By virtue of the triumph the Eagles will enter their first Tuscarawas County "A" League game against Port Washington, here Friday night on a .500 record. The hot-shooting Eagles could not be stopped by the Coshocton County invaders, despite stiff resistence in the first 3 periods of play. Baltic scorched the nets for a 68 percent mark when it connected on 31 of 51 from the field, its outstanding marksmanship of the campaign. Larry Lautenschleger was the sharpest. The veteran had an "Eagle" eye as he poured in 33 points, connecting on 13 of 18 goal attempts and 7 of 11 from the foul line. Dick Gerber snared runner-up laurels with 21 points, while Ted Oswald added 11. High man for Roscoe was Dean Grace with 19 points, while Gene Grace added 12 points. Roscoe was no shooting slouch in the opening stanza when it maneuvered into a 22-17 lead. It cooled off in the second period and the Eagles had knotted the count 33-33 by halftime. Baltic Reserves (3-2) narrowly got by the Roscoe Reserves 39-35.
