61 - Garaway Victorious Over Tuscarawas 63-48 (12-10-60)

PHOTO:  IF YOUR HEART ACHES...THEN CRY - Tom Andreas (50), Garaway High forward, seemingly is crying in anguish as he fights for possession of the basketball with teammate Bill Yakley (left) and Vic Vesco (center) and Chet Summers of Tuscarawas.  But it wasn't a tear jerker - 'twas a "jumpball."
PHOTO:  MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE PLEASE? - Jarret Gray (34) and Tom Andreas of Garaway whipped through an unscheduled ballet routine in last night's game against Tuscarawas.  It was an effort to avoid crashing into an unidentifiable Tuscarawas player, who is partially obscured.

Garaway (1-0) (5-1) spurted to a 12-1 lead over Tuscarawas (0-1) (2-3) barely as the first period got underway and was never headed after that.  Four Pirates connectd in th double figure column with Bob Raber and Tom Andreas leading the way with 15 points each.  Dan Bleininger tallied 12 points and Jarret Gray 11.  Phil Meese topped the Broncos with 20 points and Chet Summers added 13.  Terry Rainsberg connected for 10 points.  Garaway Coach Glenn Bower called the victory a "sluggish performance" by his charges, who travel to Coshocton tonight where they will meet Warsaw on the neutral Coshocton High School hardwoods.  The Pirates connected for 25 of 54 from the field for 46 percent and made 13 of 16 from the foul line.  Tuscarawas meshed 15 of 43 goal attempts for 35 percent and fired in 18 of 25 from the charity stripe.  Meese cashed in on 12 of 14 free throws.  Garaway Reserves (2-1) crashed the Tuscarawas Reserves (3-1) 34-21.
