62 - Tusky Valley Finds 1st Victory In Whipping Stone Creek 7-4 (4-30-62)




ZOARVILLE - Tuscarawas Valley (1-4) snapped out of  the losing doldrums Monday to nip Stone Creek (0-4) in an extra inning game.  The Trojans pushed across 3 runs in the eighth inning to record their first win  of the season.  The Trojans opened the game  on the right foot when Ken Burris tripled and scored on an error.  The fourth was the big frame for both teams' however.  Tusky Valley scored 3 runs on a pair of triples, a walk and a single.  Stone Creek put together 2 errors, a pair of walks, a fielder's choice a single and a triple by Ed Wallace to score 4 runs and send the game into extra innings.  Dave Rudolph started things rolling with a leadoff single in the eighth for Tusky Valley.  Dave Widder produced a single, plating the first run.  Burris followed with a triple and Dean Nemetz a single to break the game open.  Bob Jones (1-0) went all the way for Tusky Valley to pick  up the victory, fanning 10 along the way.  Bud Sauser (0-1) started for Stone Creek and lasted 7 innings, getting 12 Trojans on strikes.  Wallace (0-2) pitched the eighth and was the loser.  Burris led the winners with 2 triples and a single.  Nemetz and Jones each had a triple and single.  Wallace and Cliff Endlich each had 2 hits for Stone Creek.
