UHRICHSVILLE - This apparently is the year for breaking records.  Six more marks fell during the annual county high and grade school track meet at Uhrichsville Saturday as Tuscarawas Valley took the high school honors and Garaway the Junior title.  Three records fell in each division.  Tusky Valley had no trouble winning its title as the Trojans piled up 68 points to runner-up Midvale's 44 1/2.  Strasburg was third with 37, Tuscarawas had 20 1/2, Garaway 20 1/2, Gnaden 17 1/2 and Port Washington 7.  Garaway had a little trouble, but took the lead after 4 events and steadily increased its margin.  The Junior High Pirates ended with 53 1/4 points to runner-up Strasburg's 37 3/4.  Tusky Valley ended third with 36,  Midvale had 34 3/4, Tuscarawas 13 3/4, Gnaden 8 and Port Washington and Stone Creek 0.  Roy Yoder of Garaway was the only double winner in high school ranks as he established a new mark of 20-feet-4 1/2 in the broad jump and took the 100 yard dash in 10.65 seconds.  His broad jump bettered the 19-feet-8 mark set by Shaw of Tuscarawas in 1949.  Verle Hickman of Tusky Valley set a record in the 440 yard dash with a 53.1 clocking.  This bettered the mark of 53.5 seconds set by Zimmerman of Garaway in  1949.  Tusky Valley's mile relay team also broke a mark with a 3:45.7 clocking.  The old mark was set by Midvale in 1958.  Larry Pope of Garaway and  Tom Williams were the only double winners in the grade school division.  Pope set a new mark of 58.6 in the 440 yard dash, bettering the old mark of 61.5 set by Miller of Strasburg in 1960.  Pope also took a first in the broad jump with a leap of 17-feet-5.  Williams took a first in the 150 yard dash and 75 yard dash.  He took the 75 yeard event in 8.7 although he ran it in 8-5 in the preliminaries to equal the existing record.  Other marks were set by Dan  Burrier of Tusky Valley in the  shot put with a toss of 42-feet-3/4 to better the 36-feet-7 record set by Burson of Strasburg in 1961 and by Steve Weber of Garaway in  the high jump with 5-feet-4.  This bettered the 5-feet-2 mark set by Wallick of Wooster Highway in 1936.
