62 - Garaway Crushes Port Washington 11-2 (5-8-62)

PORT WASHINGTON - Garaway's Pirates (4-4) scored in every inning to crush host Port Washington (3-3) Tuesday. The Pirates scored single runs in each of the first 3 innings, got 4 in the fourth, added singletons in the 5th and 6th frames and wrapped it up with a 2-run seventh. Randy Miller (1-0), a Freshman, went all the way for Coach Bill Ray's Pirates. He struck out 5, walked 5 and gave up 5 hits. Alvin Fillman (3-3) was the losing pitcher, being tagged for 13 hits. He struck out 9. Tim Stevanus cracked 3 singles, Russ Donaldson a Home Run and 2 singles, Dan Bleininger a Home Run and 2 doubles, Jim Wheeler and Miller a double and single apiece for the Pirates. Fillman had 2 hits to pace the Purple Riders.
