62 - Strasburg Blanks Stone Creek 9-0 (4-18-62)

GNADENHUTTEN - Strasburg (4-1) took advantage of several errors and tight pitching to cop a victory over Stone Creek (0-3) Wednesday in its opening round game in the County Baseball Tournament.  The Tigers, who have lost only to Doaver S. Joseph's will meet Gnadenhutten Tuesday.  Strasburg jumped on Stone Creek hurler Bud Sauser (0-1) for 4 runs in the first inning and then just coasted, picking up one run in the second, 2 in the fifth and 2 more in the sixth.  The Tigers managed only 3 hits, but a total of 8 Stone Creek errors opened the door.  Jim Clymer (3-1) opened for Strasburg and worked the first 5 innings, giving up just one hit.  Dave Dayton (1-0) worked the final 2 innings, also giving up a hit.  Sauser struck out 10 batters, but didn't have the fielding support.  VonShyock led the Tigers at the plate with a double and a single.  Ron Lab had the oly other hit, a single.
