62 - Ramblers Drop Unbeaten Tigers 8-1 (4-16-62)

DOVER - Good pitching, that same ingrediet which had carried it to 3 previous victories, was the key to success Monday afternoon as the St. Joseph's Ramblers (4-0) downed Strasburg (3-1) to remain undefeated.  It was Strasburg's first loss of the season.  Jerry Rieger, who already owned a pair of victories going into the game, limited the Tigers to just 2 hits, singles by Jim Clymer and Dave Dayton, while fanning 16 and walking only two.  Clymer (2-1), also holding 2 victories going into the contest, started on the mound for Strasburg, but was chased by a 3-run St. Joseph's outburst in the second inning.  Dayton (1-0) came on to pitch the third, fourth and fifth frames before Clymer returned.  Greer (0-0) relieved in the final inning.  The Ramblers broke the ice (and it was cold enough yesterday that they might have found some) early with a run in the first.  They followed it up with 3 in the second and 4 in the fifth.  Strasburg got its only tally in the fourth.  The St. Joseph's hits were scattered between 5 regulars, but leadoff man Dave Richards let the run-scoring parade with 3 trips across the plate.  Strasburg is in tournament play against Stone Creek Wednesday.
