62 - Stone Creek Panthers Pounce On Garaway 20-12 (5-16-62)

SUGARCREEK - Stone Creek's Panthers (2-7) broke loose from their season long "cage" Wednesday to rout host Garaway (5-5) in a County League game.  The Panthers thus ended the season with a 2-6 league mark.  Stone Creek bounced off  to an early 9-0 lead getting 4 runs in the 1st and 5 in the third.  Garaway rallied to tie the game in the fourth, scoring 9 runs on 3 walks, 3 hits and a pair of errors.  The Panthers bounced back with 3 runs in the 5th and sewed the game up with a 5-run uprising in the sixth.  For insurance, they got 3 more in  the seventh.  Bud Sauser (2-1) worked all the way for Stone Creek giving up 6 hits.  Russ Donaldson (1-2) started for Garaway, gave way to reliefer Randy Miller (1-0), but then came back to finish the game.  Leading the 11-hit Stone Creek attack was Jim
Barker with 3 hits and Sauser and Bill Fellers with 2 apiece.  Geof Stevanus had a triple and a single and Miller a pair of singles to lead Garaway.  Both teams were troubled by fielding miscues.  Stone Creek committing 6 errors and Garaway 7.
