62 - Gnaden Nips Midvale 3-2 (4-5-62)




GNADENHUTTEN - Three runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning and a strong performance by righthander Dave Struch (2-0) gave Gnadenhutten's Indians (2-0) the win in as many starts last night as they tripped Midvale (0-1).  Struchen allowed 7 hits, but issued only 2 walks and whiffed 6 in going the route.  Mike Page (0-0) started for Midvale with Neal Beans (0-1) coming  on  in the fourth for the loss.  The duo allowed 6 hits, walked 5 and struck out 3.  Bob Irvin and Bill Davis had 2 hits apiece for the Tribe, one of Davis' going for 2 bases.  Glenn Miller had a leadoff double, McPherson had two hits and Mackey and Bob Byers both had doubles for the Blue Devils.  Both Devil runs came in the third inning.

NOTE:  Gnaden's very first game in 1962 was against Scio.  Gnaden won the game and is now 3-0.  There were no other details on  the game.
