63 - Garaway Downs Stone Creek 58-42 (11-22-62)

STONE CREEK - Four men hit double figures for Garaway here Wednesday night as the Pirates (2-0) triumphed.  It was the second straight win for Coach Joe Richards' aggregation.  Stone Creek (0-2) is guided by Head Coach Ken Lawhun.  Cold shooting from  the floor  on  the part  of the  Panthers played a big part in the game.  The hosts connected  on just 14 field goals in 46 atttempts for 29 percent.  Garaway, on the other hand, hit on 20 of 44 tries for 45 percent.  The  Pirates hit on 18 of 28 from the free throw line.  The Panthers made good on 14 of 28 tosses.  Senior Geof Stevanus and Sophomore Randy Miller of Garaway led all scorers with 15 points each.  Frank Miller and Don Deetz potted 10.  Jim Billman and Jerry Lahmers had 10 for Stone Creek.  A big 2nd quarter decided the game for Garaway as it increased its 15-13 first period lead to 30-17 at the half.  The winners took a 44-29 margin into the final frame.  Three cagers weren't around for the finish.  Deetz going out with 5 personal fouls with 1:44 left in the game and Frank Smith being forced to sit down at 2:09 of the third period.  Cliff Endlich of Stone Creek fouled out with 3:43 left.  The Reserve contest was a thriller as the Pirate Reserves (2-0) won at the wire over the Stone Creek Reserves (1-1) 41-39.
