62 - Midvale Shuts Out Strasburg 1-0 (5-3-62)

MIDVALE - Foes on the basketball floor for the past 3 years, all-county selections Neal Beans of  Midvale and Jim Clymer of Strasburg, proved they can handle the smaller sphere as they locked horns on the diamond Thursday.  When it was all over the pair had allowed only 3 hits all told.  Beans (3-2) proved the winner, although allowing all of 2 hits with Clymer (3-4) the loser on one little ole measely single.  But, a wild pitch also proved costly as Midvale (4-2) triumphed over Strasburg (5-4).  The games only run came in the first inning.  Tom McPherson got a walk, was sacrified to second, took third on a wild pitch and then stoled home.  Beans walked 3 and fanned 5 with 2 errors committed behind him, while Clymer walked 4, had one error.  Midvale was led by the only single by Don Ickes.  Ickerbarker and Dave Dayton each had singles for Strasburg.
