63 - Baltic Wins Thriller Against Adamsville 72-68 (11-24-62)




BALTIC - Coach Errol Jacobs' Eagles (1-1) evened their 1962-1963 basketball record here Saturday night with a nip-and-tuck conquest of Adamsville.  The Eagles, who lost 68-40 to Garaway (2-0) in Baltic's opener, trailed 22-18 at the first stop, led 42-38 at intermission and fell behind 55-52 before going ahead to stay early in the final frame.  Although hampered by several turnovers, Jacobs felt his boys played a good game for this time of the season.  Dick Gerber led the Eaqgles with 35 pointsd, Dale Stein had 15 and Keith Miller 14.  Larry Latt topped the losers with 30 points.  Bob Phillips popped in 16.  Baltic outscored Adamsville 31 to 22 in field goals, but the visitors canned 24 foul tosses to 10 for the winners.  Although not scoring, Larry Luke, of Baltic, played a good board game before running into foul trouble.  The Adamsville Reserves took the 1st game of the night by downing the Baltic Reserves 36-21.
