NAVARRE - Tuscarawas Valley (TV) (3-0) maintained its unbeaten record, extending it to three straight here last night, when it defeated the Navarre Rams 56-51 in another spine tingling episode of the 1959-1960 basketball season. The two squads were tied 10-10 at the end of the first stanza, while the Rams grabbed leads of 27-24 and 36-29 at the next two stops. In fact Coach Bob Heller's charges, after dogging Navarre's heels most of the way, waited until the last 1 1/2 minutes of play to make their move. That's when Jim Studer connected on a free throw toss and a 51-49 lead for the Trojans. It was permanent this time as they breezed in three more quick buckets, while limiting the hosts to one for the triumph. Three of the five Trojan starters ended in double figures with Clarence Cantrill leading the way with 20 points. Ron Lake added 15 and Studer had 14. Don Leighley's 15 paced the losers, while Jeff Colucy added 14 and Bob McAfee 10. Tusky Valley took 66 Shots from the field, making 22 for 34 percent. Navarre, which had a big height advantage, took only 48 shots and made 21 for 44 percent. TV returns to action Friday night when it travels to Dennison. In the Reserve game, the TV Reserves (2-1) knocked off the Navarre Reserves 36-27.
