DENNISON - The host Dennison Railroaders and the visiting Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (4-0) gave a near fullhouse a spine tingling, heart stopping, exhibition on how basketball should be played here last night. The Trojans copped the decision by 58-53 for their third straight victory. It was Dennison's third straight defeat. From the beginning it had all the appearances of a close game. The Trojans held a 13-9 lead at the end of the first period, but when halftime rolled around Dennison had knotted the score at 29-29. The Railroaders took their turn at holding the quarter lead at the third stop when they were ahead 43-39. What unfolded in the following eight minutes of play dealt a big blow to the steadly improving Railroaders. Tusky Valley rallied to cut the lead. It changed hands several times before Al Cerett dumped in a bucket to give the Trojans a 3-point margin as time ticked away. Melvin Peters, husky Dennison center, countered with a goal to narrow the count to 54-53. But Ron Lake and Jim Studer followed it up by canning two fouls apiece for the victory margin. Cerett paced the victors with 16 points, while Lake added 13 and Studer 11. Peters' 16 was high for Dennison. Dick Kilpatrick chipped in with 11 points. Dennison had a big edge in the field goal percentage when it made 22 of 56 for 39 percent. TV took 15 more shots and made 20 for 28 percent. The Trojans had a big foul shooting edge with 18 successful shots to Dennison's 9. Tuscarawas Valley's Reserve Team (3-1) ran over the Dennison Reserves 38-20.
