A former Dover High athlete has joined the county coaching fraternity. Jim Weinsz, who starred for the Tornadoes in basketball, football and track before graduating in 1948, is the chief of Baltic High's baseball and basketball fortunes, succeding Tom Bellville. Weinsz, who captained the 1947 Dover High football team and 1947-1948 basketball squad, led his diamond charges to a 5-3 record and third place in the County's Fall Baseball League just concluded.

Jim attended Bowling Green State University where he played basketball. He graduated in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree in Education and entered theAir Force where he served until 1956. While in the service, he was a member of the Scott Air Force Base basketball and baseball teams in St. Louis and toured the country, playing Army, Navy and other Air Force combines. While overseas in theFar East, he served as athletic director. After being discharged in 1956, Jim accepted the position as physical education consultant of four elementary schools and supervisor of physical education and coach at Mountain View Junior High in California. His 1956-1957 Junior High basketball squad won the Santa Clara County League championship in the San Francisco Bay area with an undefeated record for 14 games. This past year Jim was driver education instructor at Hayward High School in Hayward, California. He earned his Master's Degree in Physical Education from San Jose State College in 1958.
