60 - Malvern Handles Stone Creek 53-47 (12-5-59)


MALVERN - Stone Creek's Panthers (0-5) were dealt their fifth straight loss of the season here last night when they fell to the host Malvern Hornets. It was the closest thePanthers have come to a victory this season however. They were only two points behind with 27 seconds remaining to be played. The Hornets then took advantage of Panther fouls and made two straight 1 and 1's and then added a goal for the winning margin. Larry Lorenz topped the Panther attack with 17 points, while Gale Sauser and Merle Degen added 11 and 10, respectively. Tom Romano, who combined with Curlen Andrews to control the boards for the Hornets, was top man for the hosts with 21 points. Andrews ended the night with 12 markers, while Stan Tucci added 10. Stone Creek made good on 28.5 percent of its field shots when it meshed 19 of 66. Stone Creek tasted their first victory of the season when the Reserves (1-3) edged the Malvern Reserves 25-24.
