60 - Caviness' 41 Boost Tusky To 88-52 Win (12-9-59)

TUSCARAWAS - Gary Caviness was in top-notch form last night. The high-scoring Tuscarawas ace, who has been a Daily Reporter all-county choice for two seasons, poured in 41 points to pace the Broncos (3-0) to an 88-52 victory over Newcomerstown. The senior veteran connected on nearly every shot in the book, using hook, set and jump shots to good advantage. His output was only 9 points off the county record of 50 set by Ed Bates of Port Washington during the 1956-1957 county tournament. His was not the only sparkling performance. Four other players contributed heavily to the victory as Chuck McCahill and Dean Kerns chipped in with 12 points apiece and Duffy Summers and Phil Meese had 10 each. The victory was the Broncos third straight. Newcomerstown has lost three in a row. Doyle Rann and John Zeiner led the Trojans with 11 points each and Jim Ruby ended with 10. The undefeated Tuscarawas Reserves (3-0) downed the Newcomerstown Reserves 46-36.
