A sudden rally by Midvale (1-0) (1-3) in the final quarter moved it within 6 points of the high-flying Garaway (1-0) (4-0) cagers, but the veteran squad put on the gas and won by 20. Unbeaten in four outings now Coach Jim Stull's combine led from the starting jump as it posed 12-8, 31-22, and 48-36 advantages. Coach Peter Hilliard lost the services of Senior Ron Kaderly in the third period on personal fouls. Four cagers hit in double figures as the Pirates ace veteran Koran Zehnder topped the quartet with 19. Jim Gerber potted 16, Charles Stingel 14 and Tom Andreas 11. Veteran Ron Brenison led Midvale with 17 and Sophomoe Neil Beans followed with 16. The Midvale Reserves (2-2) tripped up the Garaway Reserves (2-2) 38-34. The Midvale Junior High team also came through with a rousing 50-23 victory over the Garaway Junior High team.
