Garaway's fast-breaking night nearly swept invading Port Washington (1-2) (2-3) right off the gym floor. The Pirates (2-0) (5-0) turned on the speed right from the beginning, moving into high gear while the Purple Riders were trying to shift from low into second. The hosts rolled to a 24-13 lead at the end of the first period and were on top 44-23 at halftime and 62-34 at the end of the third period. Garaway continued to exhibit a well-balanced scoring attack. Tom Andreas paced the fast moving attack with 20 points. Bob Raber followed with 16, Koran Zehnder had 14, Gene Gerber 13 and Charles Stingel 11. John Landon led the losers with 12. Jim Bender scored 10 and little Bill Phillips was limited to 2 points. Garaway connected on 25 of 83 shots from the field for 42 percent. The Garaway Reserves had the Port Washington Reserves walk the gang plank 44-29. Earlier, the Garaway Junior High team beat Port Washington Junior High (3-3) 27-22.
