SUGARCREEK - Garaway (7-0) wrapped up the County Fall Baseball League title and stamped itself as a threat for tournament honors next Spring, when it defeated Baltic (5-3) 9-5 yesterday at Community Park. Coach Bill Ray's Pirates have a make up game to be played with second place Gnadenhutten tomorrow afternoon on the Tribes field, but it will have no bearing on the final standings. Garaway has a perfect 7-0 mark, while Gnaden is in second with 5-2. Baltic winds up the campaign in third with a 5-3 mark. Port Washington and
Stone Creek follow.

Baltic started fast in yesterday's contest with a 5-run outburst in the opening frame. Three walks, a sacrifice fly and singles by Larry Lautensleger and Gary Gerber resulted in the big inning. But Garaway hurler, Charles Stingel, settled down there after and gave the Eagles nothing but goose eggs the remaining five innings. The veteran Pirate pitcher permitted five hits, fanned two and walked seven. Garaway got to Eagle hurler John Rice for two runs in its half of the inning and then broke the contest wide open in the third stanza with five runs. Koran Zehnder led off the big inning by getting hit by a pitched ball. Stingel then came through with a circuit blast to narrow the margin to one run. A single by Tom Andrews, a walk to Bob Raber and a sacrifice by Jarret Gray moved runners to second and third. Bob Tidrick then took a free pass and Bud Yakley followed with a clutch single, driving in the tying and winning runs. Rice combined with Larry Lautenschleger to walk five, strike out eight, and permit nine hits. In addition to his homer, Stingel also tripled, while Andrews and Yakley each had two singles apiece. Lautenschleger solved Stingel's offerings for two singles.
