60 - Garaway Pirates Only Unbeated Team (12-19-59)

Garaway's undefeated Pirates stand all alone today at the top of the Tuscarawas County Class "A" League standings. The Pirates eliminated one of the two other clean-record loop teams last night when they sent the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans to a 77-88 setback in the feature of a 4-game league program. Strasburg bumped off the other - Tuscarawas - with a 56-45 victory to move into a second-place deadlock with the Broncos and Midvale. Garaway is now 3-0 in league play, Strasburg, Midvale and Tuscarawas 2-1 and Tusky Valley 1-1. Midvale's press had Stone Creek baffled right from the beginning as the Blue Devils rolled to an 80-55 decision to move up the ladder. Gnadenhutten showed it still has plenty of life when it defeated resurgent Port Washington 83-40. The league remains dormant through the holiday period with the next full slate scheduled Friday, January 8. Two rival battles headline that night's program, with Garaway traveling to Baltic and Tuscarawas Valley to Strasburg. Gnadenhutten is at Stone Creek andMidvale at Tuscarawas.
