60 - Tusky Stops Dry Spell 52-30 (11-25-59)

MIDVALE - It's been a long dry spell for theTuscarawas Broncos (1-0) since 1954 - but, right now most ardent boosters of that villages's basketball team think it was worth it. After losing 11 straight games to the Midvale Blue Devils (1-1) since December of 1954, the Tuscarawas cagers came up with that elusive victory last night that opened their 1959-1960 campaign, topping the defending district champs. Midvale fell behind 10-8 at the first stop and then trailed the Broncos the remainder of the way by slim margins. Tusky's winning assault was spearheaded by senior Gary Caviness' 18 markers and Phil Meese's 12 points. Midvale's only regular back from last year Ron Breniser, led the Devils with 12 points and sophomore Neil Beans had 7. Tusky's last win, before last night's uprising, came in the first of two games in the 1954-1955 season. The Tusky Reserves (1-0) rocked the Midvale Reserves (1-1) 58-31.
