PORT WASHINGTON - After 18 straight setbacks in the Tuscarawas County Basketball League, Coach Dick King's Port Washington Purple Riders (1-0) (2-0) finally came up with a decision against a county quintet. The Riders, who had not captured a cage triumph over a rival since January 29, 1957, when they defeated Tuscarawas 66-59, took a league victory over Stone Creek's Panthers (0-1) (0-3) last night. It was the longest streak for Port since '57 when they captured 11 decisions. Little Bill Phillips led the Riders with 17 points, while John Landon followed with 14, and Larry Hagan 11. Jim Degen led the Panthers with 12 markers, while Stephon had 11 and Larry Lorenz 10. The Port Washington Reserves (1-1) gundowned the Stone Creek Reserves (0-2) 52-19. In the Junior High game, Stone Creek burned the unbeaten Port Washington team (3-1) 29-22.
