60 - John Rice 2-Hits Baltic And Blasts Home Run In 9-0 Win (10-3-59)

BALTIC - John Rice (5-1), Baltic High's lanky hurler, pitched and batted the Eagles (5-1) to a 9-0 victory over Gnadenhutten (3-2) yesterday. Rice permitted only two singles to the invaders, once each to Ron Clark and John Hall. He fanned five and walked only one. He was equally effective with a bat, blasting a home run , double, and single. Gary Mast and Willis Mullett each doubled, while Larry Lautenschleger, Charles McPherson and Dale Lautenschleger chipped in with singles. Dave Struchen (2-1) was charged with the loss. He gave up six walks and had 7 strikeouts. The Eagles will clash with the Indians Tuesday at Gnadenhutten. A makeup game, yet to be rescheduled also remains with Garaway.
