PORT WASHINGTON - Baltic's Eagles (3-1) waltzed to their third victory in four starts in the County Fall Baseball League yesterday, defeating Port Washington (1-4) 17-1. John Rice (3-1) limited the hosts to four hits, including a double by Tom Loader, while his teammates banged out 12 hits off the offerings of Jim Bender (1-4) and Jim Landon (0-0). The Eagles had the contest in the bag at the end of the second inning when they scored 7 runs. They added insurance markers of four runs each in the 3rd and 5th frames. Rice struck out 14 and walked only two in hurling the victory, while Bender and Landon combined to give up nine walks and fanned 6. Dave Berger homered, doubled, and singled to pace the winners at the plate. Willis Mullett had two doubles and a single; Gary Gerber homered and singled; Larry Lautenschleger doubled twice and Gary Mast added a two-bagger. Baltic returns to action next Tuesday when it travels to Stone Creek It will be at Garaway Thursday.
