67 - TV Rises To The Occasion But Falls To Garaway 38-36 (1-7-67)

SUGARCREEK - The Garaway Pirates (9-1) got on the winning track the hard way Saturday as they nipped a determined Tuscarawas Valley Trojan (2-6) quintet.  Second-year Head Coach Glenn Bower's boy's just got by on the skin of their teeth as Tim Miller sank the winning shot with 35 seconds left in the low scoring contest.  The Trojans were behind the whole game until the last 3 minutes when they led by a 34-32 count.  At that point Tim Miller dropped in a set shot to tie the count at 34 all and Kim Sedwick followed with a 2-pointer to put the Pirates in front 36-34.

Jim Burkhart, the leading scorer for the night for the Trojans, with 15 markers then tied it up again before Tim Miller put the icer on it.  Don Richardson was the only Pirate to hit in double figures as he connected for 10 and was also the top rebounder with 7.  Tom Shroyer led the Trojans in the rebound department with 5.  The Pirates had a cold night from the field as they hit on 14 of 40 and the Trojans 13 of 46.  From the charity line both teams were also inconsistent as the Pirates were 10 of 23 and the Trojans 10 of 22.  The Reserve game score was not reported, but Garaway (8-2) won the contest against Tuscarawas Valley (5-3).
