67 - Gnaden Breezes By Lakeland 80-68 (1-3-67)







GNADENHUTTEN - If Gnadenhutten (3-5) made a new year's resolution to start the 1967 port of its schedule with a victory it followed through by defeating Lakeland (4-5) last night.  Gnaden pulled ahead at the outset and was on top 25-14 at the 1st stop.  From that point; however, it was an even battle with the Tribe posting quarter leads of 42-27 and 59-45.  Dan Jinks andBill Kohl, who have been targeted by enemy defenses for special consideration throughout the season, couldn't be stopped by the Raiders.  They cashed in 31 and 25 points, respectively, to pace the Tribe attack.  Wayne Martin rounded out the Indian offense by hitting 14 points.  Pace-setter for Lakeland was Don Ferguson, who hit 18 points.  Denny Lyster and Lynn Arnold collected 13 apiece and Jeff Bachtel 11.  The Indians meshed 27 of 55 field goal attempts for 49 percent and held a 37-18 margin in rebounds.

Earlier in the night, the Gnadenhutten Reserves (2-5) mowed down the Lakeland Reserves by a score of 53-42.
