67 - Gnaden Nips Tusky Valley 67-63 (1-13-67)








ZOARVILLE - Gnadenhutten (1-2) (5-6) rolled to a victory last night, but not before the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (0-4) (2-7) made a last ditch effort late in the final stanza.  The Trojans' Jim Burkhart led a rally midway in  the qurter which gave them a 58-56 lead, its 1st of the game.  Gnaden quickly regained the advantage and held on.  Gnadenhutten led 11-4, 27-20 and 47-44, respectively, at each of the 3 stops.  Dan Jinks led the Indians with 28 points, followed by Bill Kohl's 14 and Don Finnicum's 12.  Burkhart topped the Trojans with 28 markers, with 12 coming in the decisive final  period.  Larry Adams was next with 22.  In the shooting department, Gnaden made 20 of 47 for 41 percent, while adding 27 of 34 from the line.  Tusky Valley connected on 28 of 67 for 37 percent.  It made 7 of 16 from the charity stripe.  TV out-rebounded the Indians 33-16.  Admas led the losers with 15.  Tusky Valley was guilty of 11 turnovers, while Gnadenhutten committed 8.

The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (6-3) started off the night with a win over the Gnadenhutten Reserves (3-7) by a score of 49-39.
