MIDVALE - A 26-point outburst by the Madison Indians proved deadly as they downed the Midvale Blue Devils (1-3) here Saturday night. The Blue Devils, ahead 17-16 at the quarter stop and behind 32-30 at the half, rallied to a 54-48 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Midvale held the lead until the last 3 minutes when the Indians tied the count at 62 all. Rich Paden dropped in 8 straight free throws in the last 2 minutes for the Indians which put them ahead to stay. Bob Carlisle had a season high of 33 points for Blue Devils and also grabbed in 21 of the team's 45 rebounds. Mike DeMattio dropped in 16 points followed by Lee Eberly with 13. Leading the Madison scoring parade was Lee Gray with 23, followed by Rich Paden and Sam Shugart with 22 and 12 points, respectively. Midvale hit on 37 percent from the field as compared to 44 percent for Madison. The Blue Devils were 12 of 17 from the foul line and the Indians 20 of 29. The Blue Devils will entertain Port Washington next Friday night.
The Midvale Reserves (2-2) prevailed by trouncing the Madison Reserves 54-25.
