67 - Lakeland Pins Loss On Midvale 49-30 (1-14-67)

FREEPORT - The Lakeland Raiders (5-6) of Head Coach Gary Caviness pulled the upset of their schedule by handing the Blue Devils of Midvale (8-5) their 2nd loss in 2 nights.  In the low scoring contest the Raider defense failed to give the Midvale quintet a fair share of good shots and they had trouble connecting on the ones they did get.  The contest was fairly close the 1st half, with Lakeland holding a 10-8 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and 22-17 at half time intermission.  The 3rd quarter proved to be a cooling off period for the Hilliard-coached 5 as they could only muster 7 points, while Lakeland more than doubled this figure with 15.  Lakeland was led by Denny Luyster's 15 and Don Ferguson's 14.  Midvale failed to have a player hit the double figure column as Lee Eberly led with 7.  Lakeland out hustled the Midvale team on the boards and out rebounded their rivals 43-26.  From the field, the winners canned 17 of 41 for 43 percent and 15 of 22 from the foul line.  A hand that had to be as cold as the weather outside spelled disaster, as Midvale could only hit 12 of 65 action shots for a mere 19 percent, their lowest output of the campaign.  They were 6 of 16 from the foul line.

The Midvale Reserves (7-6) led off the night by outclassing the Lakeland Reserves 57-29.
