67 - East Canton Hands Tusky Valley Another Defeat 55-47 (1-14-67)
ZOARVILLE - The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (2-8) dropped their 8th decision in 10 starts to a potent East Canton Hornet team by the count of 55-47 Saturday night. Second-year Head Coach Bill Frye of the Trojans is having his problems at the foul line as his charges have out-goaled every team except Strasburg (11-0) and Garaway (10-1). The Trojans had 20 fielders as compared to 17 for the Hornets. The Trojans were 7 of 23 from the foul line and the Hornets 21 of 38. The Hornets had a well balanced attack as 4 men hit double figures with Jeff Heakin getting 17 and Bill Wyler, Joe Aquino and Jim Walter getting 12, 11 and 10 in that order. The Trojans' big horses were Dick Harvey with 15 and Jim Burkhart with 11. Tom Shroyer grabbed 8 rebounds for the losers and Heakin pulled in 15 for the Hornets. Turnovers also seemed costly for the Trojans as it was guilty of 16 and East Canton had 11. Both teams had a dismal night from the field as the trojans hit on 33 percent of it's shots and the Hornets 30.
There was no report of a Reserve game.
