67 - Midvale Nips Tuscarawas Valley 54-51 (12-22-66)

MIDVALE - Tuscarawas Valley (0-2) (1-4), after trailing 40-36 at the end of the 3rd period, jumped into the front runner's spot at 49-42 with 4:30 remaining to play, then saw the lead go down the drain last night.  Midvale (2-0) (4-3), exerting a full court press, trimmed the margin, tied the game, at the 2-minute mark, then went ahead with 30 seconds to go en route to racking up their 3th straight victory in the Tuscarawas County Class A League contest.

In the fading seconds Tusky Valley was whistled for a pair of charging fouls and on each occasion Midvale netted points.  Bob Carlisle, the Blue Devils' 6-1 Senior, swished the 2-pointer to put Midvale ahead 53-51 and not long afterward Sophomore Tom Booth bucketed a free throw to account for the final victory margin. 

Booth hit his season point high when he tallied 19 to lead the Midvale victory.  Carlisle added 14 and Lee Eberly 11.  Dave Clugston, whose previous high night was 9 points against Garaway, also enjoyed his best individual performance of the campaign, scoring 17 points.  Midvale counted 27 rebounds with Mike DeMattio grabbing 9 and Booth 6, while TV had 27 including 7 by Larry Adams.  From the field the Blue Devils hit 19 of 50 for 38 percent and Tusky Valley 19 of 48 for 40 percent.  The Trojans, who have lost at least 2 games by foul line margins, were only 4 short of being perfect in that area when they swished 13 of 17.  Midvale had 16 of 28 to account for the winning margin.

The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (3-2) edged the Midvale Reserves (4-3) by one point, 42-41.
