65 - Strasburg Blasts Tusky Valley 73-57 (2-5-65)





ZOARVILLE - Those 2 big northern county rivals, Strasburg (6-1) (10-5) and Tuscarawas Valley (2-5) (4-12), went at it tooth and nail here again last night.  A rip-roaring 1st half saw the score tied 9 times before Strasburg moved to the fore at halftime to lead 38-29.  It followed a 1st period in which TV battled to a 2-point, 17-15 edge.  In the 3rd stanza, Strasburg opened the jets to up its lead to 14 points, going on top 59-45.  Strasburg exhibited balanced scoring as 3 players hit twin figures and 2 others fell just short in countig its 2nd verdict of the season over the Trojans.  On December 12 the Tigers measured Tusky Valley 76-61.  Steady Rock VanFossen topped the bengal scoring with 22 points.  He was followed by Tom Dreher's 17 and Rick Hall's 10.  Tuscarawas Valley also had a trio of dual scorers, Gary Adams being tops at 17 points.  Bob  Swinford had 13 and Fred Clugston 11.  The Tigers connected 30 times in 69 floor tries for 36 percent and added 13 of 26 free throws.  TV hit 21 of 76 action shots for 29 percent and meshed 13 of 21 charity tosses.  Strasburg battles another tough foe tonight when it entertains the powerful Conotton Valley Rockets.  The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (6-8) just got by the Strasburg Reserves (10-4) 38-37.
