65 - Eastern Ohio Class A Sectional Baseball Tournament




DOVER - Action in the 12-team, 11-game Eastern Ohio Class A Sectional Baseball Tournament will be launched next week at Gnadenhutten and Sugarcreek.  Drawings were held yesterday afternoon in the County school system's offices by Tournament Manager W.E. Laws.  At stake is a berth in the one-game District, also to be held on the Gnadenhutten field.  The local winner meets Martins Ferry's Sectional victor May 11 for the right to advance to Regional activity at North Canton.  Paired for opening Regional play will be the Eastern District king and Philo's District representative.  First-round and quarter-final play will be at both Sugarcreek and Gnadenhutten.  Sugarcreek's 2 winners will join Gnadenhutten's 2 winners to form the semi-final field at Gnadenhutten.  Vieing at Sugarcreek are:

Dover St. Joseph's Ramblers
Garaway Pirates
Strasburg Tigers
Baltic Eagles
Hiland Hawks
Malvern Green Hornets

At Gnadenhutten:

Gnadenhutten Indians
Tuscarawas Valley Trojans
Newcomerstown Trojans
Conotton Valley Rockets
Midvale Blue Devils
Tuscarawas Broncos

Officiating  will be Norman (Tubby) Harmon and Max Miller of Sugarcreek at Sugarcreek and Robert Clark of Gnadenhutten and Pete Murphy of New Philadelphia at Gnadenhutten.
