65 - Garaway Smacks Strasburg 69-56 (2-13-65)
SUGARCREEK - Revenge is oh so sweet! There was plenty of joyous whooping it up here Saturday night after arch-rivals Garaway (14-4) and Strasburg (11-7) hooked up in what was the final regular season basketball game for both schools. When the fighting was all over, the touted Pirates had salted away another victory in their ledger. Strasburg, which had to go 2 overtimes to beat Garaway January 22 on the Tigers' court, finishes their season with 11 victories. Randy Miller sparked the Bucs to the win, tossing in 21 points for game honors and pulling in 14 rebounds for one of his top all-around efforts of the campaign. He had plenty of help from his mates; however, Ron Raber netting 14 points, Dan Andreas 11, Jim Young 9 and Terry Gerber 8. High for Pete Shahan's talented Tigers was Tom Dreher who notched 18. Sophomore sensation John Studer recorded 17 and Ron Lab added 12. Usually high-scoring Rock VanFossen was limited to 5. Garaway also had the better of it in the shooting department, sinking 27 of 63 floor tries for a good 43 percent and making 15 of 22 fouls. Strasburg was 22 of 57 for 37 percent from action and 12 of 18 at the foul lines. Andreas snaraed 11 rebounds and Raber 8 to help the Bucs control both boards. Eighteen of Miller's points came in the 2nd half. A good Strasburg Reserve team (12-5) beat the Garaway Reserves (8-7) 49-43.
