NEW PHILADELPHIA - Garaway, one of the favorites, plus Baltic and Tuscarawas all posted wins Tuesday in the initial Class A Sectional Tournament action at the New Philadelphia Gymnasium.  Glenn Bower's well-drilled Pirates took shooting honors for the night, rimming 22 of 40 action  attempts for a blistering 55 percent.  Tuscarawas was close behind with 31 of 60 for 51 percent and Baltic went 19 for 47 and 40 percent.  The Pirates, the hottest team in the area with 8 consecutive victories and a 15-4 season slate, simply had too many horses for Gnadenhutten, 6-13.  Oren Thompson's lads tried to employ the deliberate style offense and it worked until 2:26 remained in the 1st frame when the talented Bus erupted for 9 straight points to take a 12-4 lead at the initial rest.  Jim Young upped the advantage by 2 more markers at the outset of the 2nd stanza and after Terry Huebner and Dan Jinks connected for the Tribe, the Bucs put on a tight press and hard-working Dan Andreas netted a bucket and 2 fouls and the Pirates were off and running.  They led 30-18 by intermission and 48-31 going into the last period.  Randy Miller, perhaps the strongest man on the floor, displayed some remarkable moves on drives and tip-ins and took game scoring honors with 18 points.  Ron Raber proved to be a valuable asset, notching 15 tallies and hustling for 9 rebounds.  Andreas, a good bet for all-district honors, rimmed 14 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.  The other starters, Jim Young and Terry Gerber, were in personal foul trouble early in the 2nd stanza.  Gerber left the game with 5 late in the 3rd canto.  Terry Heubner paced the Indians with 12 points.  Garaway didn't miss a field goal in the 2nd frame when it broke open the game, canning 6 of 6.  And it was off target just once at the foul line in 7 tries.  Gnadenhutten fired in 14 of 48 floor flings for 29 percent.  At the foul lines, the Bucs were 20 of 31 and the Indians 16 of 24.  Turnovers showed Garaway with 10, all but 4 coming in the last period when Bower substituted freely and Gnadenhutten had 14.  "Bower's Bombers" return to wasrfare Friday, taking on the smooth-working Stone  Creek Panthers (17-3).
