Stone Creek Sets School Record With 76-70 Win Against Warsaw (2-6-65)

WARSAW - Stone Creek will end one of its best basketball seasons in history Saturday night at Newcomerstown.  The Panthers (16-3), who have amazed nearly everyone the past 2 campaigns under Coach Charlie Huggins, spanked Warsaw here Saturday night for their 16th victory.  Previously, the best mark in the school's leger was 18-5 in 1956-57.  Five Panthers hit double figures against the Pirates as they once more proved it's hard to beat a balanced attack.  Sophomore Tim Baab took scoring laurels with 19 points, John Flinner got 15, Vic Turner contributed 14, Jim Wherley mustered 12 and Dave Weber popped in 10.  Stone Creek struggled to a 16-12 lead at the 1st stop held on  for a 38-31 margin at the half and was on  top 55-46 going into the final frame.  The Warsaw Reserves stopped a strong Stone Creek Reserve Team (11-3) 47-40.
