65 - Midvale Trims Gnaden 49-43 (2-12-65)

GNADENHUTTEN - The Indians (4-4) (6-12) put up quite a battle against the heavily-favored Blue Devils (7-1) (16-2), trailing just 12-10 at the 1st stop, tieing the count 25-25 by the half and falling back 39-33 going into the final frame.  The Tribe was  down 10 points at one stage of the 2nd stanza before rallying.  Neither team was able to hit the target consistently.  Midvale made 19 of 74 floor flings for 26 percent and 11 of 17 charities, while Gnadenhutten canned 16 of 47 from the floor for 34 percent and 11 of 19 fouls.  Dan Kohler again paced the Pete Hilliard-coached Blue Devils with 18 points.  Teammate Terry Leggett added 14.  Dan Jinks was high for Oren Thompson's crew with 14 tallies.  Terry Huebner contributed 12.  Bob Carlisle grabbed 12 rebounds for Midvale and Huebner snared 9 for Gnadenhutten.  Midvale goes against tough Strasburg February 23 in Sectional Tournament work.  This marks Midvale's finest season since 1958-59 when those Blue Devils were 22-2 and advanced to Regional Tournament play before bowing 73-57 to Northwestern.  Gnaden will battle Garaway Tuesday in the tournament.  Midvale (10-5) blasted Gnadenhutten (4-12) in the Reserve game 51-36.
