SUGARCREEK - Garaway High (1-0) beat Tuscarawas Valley (0-1) yesterday behind Home Runs by Randy Miller (2) and Jim Young (1). Miller hit a pair of Home Runs, including a 2-run slam in the 6th frame to overcome a 5-4 Trojan advantage. All told, Garaway banged out 9 hits. Miller also had a single as did Young. John Fanhauser had 2 singles and Dan Andreas a double. Ray Nist had 2 hits and Gary Adams (1) a Home Run for Tuscarawas Valley. Andreas (1-0) was the winning pitcher, taking over in the 2nd stanza for Jim Pope (0-0). The Trojans scored all of their runs in the first 2 innings. Adams (0-1) was the loser, Sidney Smith (0-0) hurling the final frame and a half.
