65 - First Annual Tuscarawas County Basketball Banquet (4-5-65)

STONE CREEK - The 1st Annual Tuscarawas County Basketball Banquet was held in the auditorium here last night with more than 75 players, coaches and guests attending.  The banquet was held this year because of the disbandment of the County Tournament, where the awards were given in the past.  Following a recognition of guests by Bill Kinner, Executive Head of Tuscarawas Valley High, County Superintendent Linton Honaker presented trophies to Tri-League Champions Midvale, Strasburg and Garaway.  Individual trophies were given to the All-County Team consisting  of:

Dan Andreas, Garaway Pirates
Jim Young, Garaway Pirates
Terry Huebner, Gnadenhutten Indians
Dan Kohler, Midvale Blue Devils
Ted Tolloti, Midvale Blue Devils
Leonard Cameron, Port Washington Purple Riders
Bob Burris, Tuscarawas Valley Trojans
Jim Wherley, Stone Creek Panthers
Vic Turner, Stone Creek Panthers
Rock Vanfossen, Tuscarawas Broncos
Tom Dreher, Strasburg Tigers

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Dan Kohler of Midvale and Garaway Coach Glenn Bower was presented the Coach of the Year award.  Invocation and benediction were given by Rev. Clarence Higgins of Stone Creek.
