BLUFFTON - Saturday marks the end of the collegiate basketball career for Bob Raber, a native of Sugarcreek who now plays for Bluffton College.  The 6-3, 176-pound Senior has played 4 years of basketball for the Beavers, becoming a starter about mid-season of his Freshman year.  He went on to average 12.3 points per game as the team compiled a 5-15 slate.  As a Sophomore, Raber got off  to a fine start and averaged 16.4 points per contest for 9 games before an injury sent him to the bench in a battle with Ashland.  After missing several games, he returned and ended with a 13.1 point average.  The team was 6-15.  In his Junior season, injuries once again forced him to the sidelines.  Two weeks before the campaign started, he suffered a fractured ankle and missed the first 10 games.  Working himself back in condition once again, he was an asset to the squad, playing back-up man to any position.  The Beavers came up with their 1st winning season in  many years, 11-10.  As a Senior and seasoned veteran, Raber has shaken the injury nemesis and is having his best campaign.  He has broken loose several times to score more than 20 points and currently is averaging 11.1.  He is 3rd in team rebounding with 110.  His field goal percentage of 54.5 is the best on  the quintet.  Bluffton, 10-9, ends against St. Francis College of Indiana.

Bob is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Raber of Sugarcreek and is majoring in mathematics and minoring  in  physical education.  He hopes to teach and coach upon graduation.
