65 - Stone Creek Slams Port Washington 78-57 (2-5-65)

STONE CREEK - Nothing special was planned in the way of a ceremonial closing out of its play on the home floor for Stone Creek last night.  But, the final chapter etched here was a proud gift for all long-time Panther fans.  Coach Charles Huggins' combine (5-3) (15-3) provided plenty of fireworks with John Flinner, Vic Turner, Tim  Baab and Jim Wherley the big blasters.  All 4 scored in double figures.  Port Washington (1-6) (5-11) led by 2 points momentarily at the outset of the contest and closed in on Stone Creek in the 3rd stanza.  Outside of that the Riders were never serious contenders.  Stone Creek raced to quarter margikns of 22-9, 43-21 and 54-42.  Flinner set the scoring pace, pouring in 21 points for the victors.  He was followed by Turner with 18, Baab 13 and Wherley 10.  In outrebounding the invaders 54-29, Stone Creek was led by John Bihari's 8.  Turner had 7.  Leonard Cameron led Port Washington scoring on 21 points to share game laurels with Flinner.  Bob Casteel added 15.  Cameron also pulled down 8 rebounds and Rich Fillman 7.  The victory marked Stone Creek's 2nd verdict of the campaign over Port Washington.  In their season-opener the Panthers snared a 65-57 nod.  Stone Creek travels to Warsaw tonight, while Port closes its season next Friday when it hosts Tuscarawas Valley.  The Stone Creek Reserves (11-2) picked up their 11th win of the season by pasting the Port Washington Reserves (3-8) 48-27.
